The Attributes of God Love

To understand this attribute of God, it is important to comprehend what love is. ἀγάπη (agape) is a type of love that seeks the best for the one loved, where φίλος (philos), which is often translated as love, means fondness. These two kinds of love are often expressed in Scripture, where στοργή (storge - family love) and ἔρως (eros – romance) are not but often their definitions are imposed upon the meaning of ἀγάπη (agape).
