Memory Verse

For the wages of the sin [nature] is death, but the gracious gift from God is eternal life in Christ Jesus (Romans 6:23)

At the end of the sixth chapter of Romans, Paul reaches a conclusion based on the truth that Adam’s trespass and sin brought both spiritual and physical death to all humanity, whereas Christ’s obedience brings life. Through Christ, God grants us two gifts: the gift of righteousness and the gift of eternal life. The gift of righteousness removes the penalty of physical death through resurrection. The gracious gift provides eternal life to all who are in Christ.

The wages produced by the sin nature result in death—separation from God in our rational. In contrast, the gracious gift grants life in Christ Jesus, enabling us to receive and discern the things of the Spirit.
