By this, we experientially know that in Him we abide and that He is in us, because He has given us out from His Spirit (1 John 4:13).
One aspect of our salvation is that we are given the Holy Spirit. The Spirit, Who now indwells the grace believer, produces desires within his heart to do what is right. These desires are in contrast to the strong desires from the flesh (Galatians 5:16–17). He is the One who teaches us how to abide in Christ as we apply the truth, the faith, and take each step by the Spirit (1 John 2:27).
The truth is the doctrine for having victory over our sin nature (John 8:32). Know that we have died with Christ and are raised to walk in newness of life; thereby, rendering the sin nature ineffective in Christ (Romans 6:4–6). Count our death and resurrection with Christ to be true so that we are seeking to walk in the newness of life we have in Christ (Romans 6:11). Yield our members to righteousness; thereby living out the righteousness we now have in Christ (Romans 6:13).
The faith is the doctrine for overcoming Satan (1 Peter 5:9). This involves putting on the armor of God and standing firm (Ephesians 6:10–18). In addition, knowing Satan’s methodologies, we will overcome the world system, which he designed to pacify the sin nature of humans (1 John 5:19). For we have been crucified in Christ to the world and it to us (Galatians 6:14). Therefore, we use it, but do not abuse it (1 Corinthians 7:31).
Therefore, our relationship with God is not just in the mind; it is experienced in every aspect of our lives as we live out the righteousness we have in Christ by walking according to the desires from the Holy Spirit, which influence us to do what is right.
