Memory Verse

These things also we speak, not in [the] teachings of man’s wise words but in [the] teaching from the Holy Spirit, comparing Spiritual [words] with Spiritual [things] (1 Corinthians 2:13).

The wisdom of men is based in the soul–based on the emotions (James 3:15). It is foolishness to God because it cannot understand the things of God (1 Corinthians 3:19). It is a fool who is wise in his own eyes; yet, this is the wisdom of men (Proverbs 26:12).

The wisdom Paul teaches us is from the Holy Spirit, Who compares Spiritual words with Spiritual concepts so that we who are Spiritual can understand the things of God. God has given us His Spirit, so that we may know the things that are freely given to us (1 Corinthians 2:12). This is a wisdom that was hidden, but is now revealed to use who are in Christ (1 Corinthians 2:6–9).

Wisdom is the proper application of knowledge. As we grow in our knowledge of the things God has given to us in Christ, the Holy Spirit teaches us how to abide in Christ (1 John 2:27). This results in a lifestyle that is godliness in nature because we are taking each step by the Holy Spirit using the wisdom He gives us to live a life of freedom in Christ.
