Memory Verse
Indeed the Law entered in order that the trespass should abound, but where the sin abounded, grace super abounded (Romans 5:20).
The Law was given so that we might understand the exceedingly sinful nature of sin (Romans 7:13). Therefore, the sin nature used the Law to abound in trespasses and sins. However, when grace came, it removed the strength of the sin nature, which is the Law (1 Corinthians 15:56). When we live by the grace we have in Christ—by reckoning ourselves to have died with Him and to be raised to walk in newness of life—the sin nature is rendered ineffective, as we submit our members to righteousness, which is utilizing the Truth (Romans 6:4–6, 11, 13).
