And this I say, the covenant ratified by God to Christ, the law, having come to be four hundred and thirty years later, cannot revoke unto the annulment of the promise, Galatians 3:17.
The Mosaic law did not annul God’s promise to Christ. Once a covenant is made, it cannot be nullified or added to. In Genesis 22:17, the covenant God made concerning Christ stands on the promise God made, not law.
The law was a schoolmaster to bring the Israelites unto faith in Christ, not for the purpose of rescinding the covenant made with Abraham concerning the singular seed who will possess the gates of his enemies.
The Church’s covenant is built upon better promises, for Christ is the mediator of a better covenant (Hebrews 8:6).
When God makes a covenant, He binds Himself to His word, for He cannot lie. The land promises given to Abraham and his seed are not to be mixed with the covenant made to Christ. Israel, as a nation, will be saved. The Church, which belongs to Christ, has a heavenly citizenship that has nothing to do with—and does not void—the land covenants made to Abraham (Philippians 3:20).
