Memory Verse

Do all things apart from grumbling and doubting, in order that you all become blameless and unmixed, children of God without reproach, in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you all shine as luminaries in the world (Philippians 2:14–15).

Israel is a light on a hill; a nation set apart unto God among the nations (Matthew 5:14). The Church sojourns among the nations, displaying as luminaries the life of Christ within them. Although we are in out from the world, we are not called to be separated from it. Rather, by walking in the good works that God has prepared for us—that is, by living righteously—we are able, through our actions, to display a proper opinion of God to those around us who do not believe. In doing so, they may catch a glimpse of the light and be encouraged to come to a full experiential knowledge of the one true God.
