For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone among you, to not be high minded alongside what is necessary to think, but to think to be sober minded, each one as God measured out a measure of faith ( Romans 12:3).
The term “think” in this verse refers to the frame of mind—a person’s opinion of themselves. We are not to have a frame of mind that is higher than necessary. A Pastor is to have a proper frame of mind regarding his role in doctrine and shepherding, but he is not to regard himself as the head of the Church. Likewise, one who possesses the spiritual gift of administration is to lead with diligence, not by insisting upon their own way. Each of us has been given a measure of faith in accordance with our spiritual gift. Therefore, we are to exercise our gift with a proper frame of mind, always seeking what is best for the saints and contributing to their edification.
