that they are under a new covenant well we can actually see that in john i mean that that is there is such huge significance to this statement and most people just glance and glance over it in john chapter 13 and verse 34 in the upper room when Jesus spoke this to the command to the disciples he said a new commandment i give to you that you love one another And it might be like, oh, well, you know, that's a new commandment. It's an add-on to the Mosaic Law. It doesn't work that way. Once a covenant is made, you cannot add to it, you cannot annul it. So you can't say that this is adding to it. You cannot also say, well, this is just summing up the law, because under the law, you were to love your neighbor as yourself, and now that has changed. So you can see from here, the law has changed. If the law has changed, that means the covenant has to change. Now, Christ is talking in the upper room and he's giving them information about what is coming. It didn't come at that point. It is coming.
