Spirit beings in Scripture are referred to by various titles, names, and descriptions. The Sons of God are mentioned in Genesis 6:2, Job 1:6; 2:1; 38:7. Michael the Archangel is identified as one of the chief princes (Daniel 10:13, 21; 12:1), the prince of Israel (Daniel 10:21; 12:1), and an archangel (1 Thessalonians 4:16; Jude 9). He is named Michael in Revelation 12:7 and is described as having his own army of angels (Revelation 12:7). Gabriel appears in Daniel 8:16; 9:21 and Luke 1:19, 26.

Angelic hosts are described as Heavenly Hosts (Luke 2:13), Legions (Matthew 26:53), and Holy Angels (Matthew 25:31; Mark 8:38; Acts 10:22). Specific angels include a Strong Angel (Revelation 5:2). Among fallen beings, Lucifer is mentioned in Isaiah 14:12, and Satan, who masquerades as an angel of light, is referenced in 2 Corinthians 11:14. He is also called the Anointed Cherub (Ezekiel 28:14, 16), Abaddon (Revelation 9:11), The Devil (Ephesians 6:11), and the Old Serpent (Revelation 20:2). Other titles include Messenger, Angel of the Abyss (Revelation 9:11), and Angel of Light (2 Corinthians 11:14).

Spirit beings are also referred to as Watchers (Daniel 4:13, 23), Holy Ones (Daniel 4:13; 8:13; Jude 14), Sons of the Mighty One (Psalm 89:6), The Army of God (Genesis 32:1-2), Ministering Spirits (Hebrews 1:14), and Princes (Daniel 10:13). Angels are further described by their roles and characteristics, such as Destroying Angels (Genesis 19:12-13; 2 Samuel 24:16), those Having the Seal of the Living God (Revelation 7:2), those With the Golden Censer (Revelation 8:3), those Having Authority Over Fire (Revelation 14:18), those Having Authority Over Water (Revelation 16:5), and one Standing in the Sun (Revelation 19:17).
